After a year of nonstop working for both myself and my husband, and the sudden passing of my 15 month old niece just a few weeks before our trip, Andrew and I got on a plane headed for Maui. We had very specific plans for this trip, plans to not make any plans. We slept as late as we wanted, we ate whenever and as often as we wanted, we did exactly what we wanted in the moment. Sometimes what we wanted was to sit in our hotel room and watch t.v. and we were more then ok with that.
I LOVE Hawaiian food! We found this really cool little place "Aloha Mixed Plate" when we were here a few years ago on our honeymoon and fell in love. It's far from a tourist attraction (I would call it a hole in the wall except its completely outdoors) and they serve delicious local food. This was our first stop once we got settled into our hotel.
After the first five days of our trip being filled with only sporadic moments of sunshine, lots of rain and some of the gnarliest waves I've ever seen, the sun came out and gave us the post card weather you'd expect from Hawaii.
